Wood Burning Hot Tub Instructions

How long does it take to heat: Approximately 2 hours

1. Make sure there’s water in the tub: Valve should be closed (little white valve at the back, bottom of the tub)

You should never light a wood burning hot tub without water in the tub. So, make sure that the hot tub is full before you begin. Fill below the marked black line.

Fire starter and Kindling

2. First, place your fire starter and kindling inside stove. Make sure to pile the kindling in a small pyramid above the fire starter.

3. Light the fire starter with the torch (in the closet under the a-frame) and wait for the kindling to catch.

4. Once the fire starter and kindling have caught light, add some pieces of wood or smaller logs to the burner from the top.

5. Once the fire is active, close the front door to the stove and close the vent and avoid using it anymore.

6. Carefully add logs from the top as the fire is burning.

7. It’s important that the fire is burning well for it to effectively heat such a large amount of water.

Monitor the fire and stir the water

8. Once the fire is blazing, it’s a good idea to keep it hot by adding new logs before the flames die down. Continue to add new fuel to feed the flames. Avoid overfilling the burner by keeping it no more than 1/3 full.

Wait for the water to reach the desired temperature

In some cases, a colder air temperature may cause it to take a bit longer for the water to reach no more than 105 degrees.

Continue to monitor the temperature, very slowly adding logs when needed. Once it reaches 94-105 degrees, you’re ready to get in!

While using the hot tub, you’ll want to make sure that the water stays hot but doesn’t continue to get hotter. Please use your judgement and add logs when you see fit.

9. When you’re done

When you’re done with the hot tub for the evening, please place the lid back on top to cover the water. This will keep the water warm through the night and will save you time heating it up the next day. It will also prevent leaves and other debris from falling into the hot tub.
